Art Lecture: Ian Armstrong – his art & life

Ian Armstrong Painting — Stoneman Collection

Learn about the art of Ian Armstrong and discover the hidden treasure of Mt Macedon that is Duneira. See Armstrong’s work in the Stoneman collection. Armstrong was a pupil of National Gallery School and George Bell in Toorak where he was schooled in Modernism. He went on to develop his own art from observation and studies overseas. Built in 1875 Duneira is a faithfully renovated homestead that is a testament the vision of late Stuart Stoneman. The house features an extensive library, artwork collection, Persian rugs, grand pianos and period furniture. Visit Duneira in the spring when the garden promises to be at its best and enjoy the art of Ian Armstrong .
